Business Development Manager

Trivium is actively seeking a Business Development Manager to join our rapidly growing team! We are a women-owned media production firm located in Boston, MA. We specialize in designing and developing bespoke media experiences of all kinds for our clients. We work closely with museums, cultural institutions, corporations, universities and other similar clients to bring their interpretive and experiential ideas to life!

At Trivium, the Business Development Manager will work with the Principals and the Marketing team to identify potential new markets and business opportunities and then bring those opportunities through to fruition. We are looking for someone with knowledge of our industry (or a similar industry such as corporate brand experiences and themed entertainment) who can:

  • Proactively identify new leads and business opportunities (through networking, attending events, cold calling/emailing, relational marketing trips, etc)
  • Build upon pre-existing relationships and develop new relationship–create relationships with prospective clients and frequent collaborators and stay in touch with them over time
  • Develop proposals: lead the Trivium proposal team in developing and writing customized proposals specific to the RFP/RFQ or the request at hand. This requires thoroughly understanding what the client is looking for, potentially building a team around it (or getting on a team), working with our in-house marketing support team to develop the proposal, and maintain proposal communications. (Trivium’s principals are active in large proposal efforts.)
  • Create strategic plans for entering into new markets (such as themed entertainment or other similar markets)
  • Move proposals through the contract negotiation process, working with clients to develop the final contract including scope, schedule, and budget (Trivium principals are also active in contract negotiations.)
  • Onboard new clients/transfer clients over to Production team: as contracts are signed and kick offs are set up, handle all internal administration to set up the new project.
  • Manage our Pipeline: update and track all sales opportunities in our pipeline and work with Principals to identify when additional sales efforts are needed
  • Network at industry events. We would like this person to travel to conferences and other events and set up meetings with potential new clients, participate in staffing conference booths, and continue to build relationships and make connections. Trivium attends 3 major trade shows a year where we have booths and then we attend an additional 2-3 conferences without booths. We want to increase our visibility at these shows and continue to try different shows.
  • Work to get Trivium into sessions at conferences either as lead or in a wider panel discussion
  • Continue to Identify speaking opportunities and pull together session proposals for the principals and senior staff members to participate in conferences, symposia, and programs in order to heighten our visibility industry wide

The right combination of skillsets we are looking for includes:

  • HIGHLY organized. This is a deadline driven roll with extremely quick turnaround times. We need someone who understands how important this is and hits every deadline no matter how zany they are. Organization is key here.
  • EXTREMELY communicative. We need someone who knows how to communicate verbally and via writing–this does not necessarily mean someone who talks a lot. But rather someone who can explain who we are and what we do and how we do it in as much detail or as little detail as needed!
  • EXCELLENT listener. This position is just as much about hearing and understanding what the client is asking for as it is about telling them who we are and how we can help them.
  • KEEPING UP With the times. We need someone who knows who is working on what and what other relationships are being formed. What is coming next? What projects are looming on the horizon? What is the next big conference we should attend, etc. We need someone who knows the landscape.

  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills
  • Strong understanding of market trends and industry landscape
  • Able to develop creative solutions to meet customer needs
