CASE STUDY

Indiana Donor Memorial Experience

Client Indiana Donor Network
Location Indianapolis, IN
Date Completed April 2025

Overview

The Indiana Donor Network (INDN) saves lives by connecting organ and tissue donors with individuals in need of transplants. When Trivium was brought on to this project, we felt privileged to help create a remembrance experience that would honor both the donors and their families. The result was a beautiful transformation of INDN’s space, centered around the building's expansive four-floor atrium.

Blending lighting, audio, and interactive media, we transformed a lobby hall into an immersive environment that showcases a sculptural Tree of Life at its center. Its branches symbolize the Donor Heroes, while the 83 lanterns represent the number of lives each donor can impact. Visitors engage with one of five kiosks to craft a poignant tribute to their loved one. Images provided by family and friends are accompanied by a display of light and sound, creating a transportive moment commemorating each Hero Donor. In addition, we developed a website to complement the in-person experience, enabling INDN to host memorial tribute events for thousands of Hero Donor families across Indiana.

This project is a Silver Winner of the 2025 MUSE Creative Awards for the categories Business to Consumer and Immersive Brand Experience.

Approach

We approached this project with the reverence it demanded. We carefully considered how visitors would feel in the space, and as they engaged with these interactive experiences. The flow of visitors through this contemplative space requires each part of their experience to be precisely timed. Lighting and media both enhance the emotional messaging and subtly guide visitors from the kiosks to a common Remembrance Wall for the conclusion of their Donor Hero's tribute.

Outcomes and Impacts

Upon its launch, the project received touching reactions from donor families, friends, and INDN staff. This speaks to the evocative design and successful integration of all its physical and digital components. Donor families were able to intuitively navigate the space, and staff could focus on guiding family members through a complex sentimental experience.
