Overview

Trivium Interactive partnered with the NY State Parks Office of Historic Preservation, the Stockbridge Munsee Tribe, and Amaze to reimagine the visitor experience at this 17th-century Dutch Colonial house in Yonkers, NY. As part of the State’s Our Whole History initiative, Trivium helped expand the story beyond the people who lived within the house, incorporating the history and perspectives of the Munsee people who inhabited the land before and alongside the Dutch settlers.

Trivium created 16 interactive and linear experiences throughout the galleries, weaving together historical interpretation, storytelling, and engaging digital elements. The experience also includes a web-based augmented reality layer that begins outside the house, offering visitors deeper context and additional content as they explore the site.

To extend the experience beyond the physical space, Trivium developed The Virtual Wing, a complementary online experience accessible through visitors’ mobile devices via QR codes throughout the house. Together, these digital and physical experiences provide a more inclusive and comprehensive exploration of the site’s layered history.
