Museum of Mathematics

Trivium Interactive collaborated with the Museum of Mathematics to create three interactives for a new permanent exhibition, coinciding with the opening of the Museum at their new location in New York City's Flatiron district.

In Fourier Figures, visitors can explore how the Fourier transform concept applies to drawings. They can create drawings on a touchscreen with a stylus, then transform with a slider. In Double Date, visitors explore the Birthday Paradox; a statistical model that proves that when 23 or more people are in a room, the chance that two share a birthday is greater than not. Double Date features a slot-machine style housing where visitors pull a real lever to try their luck at getting a birthday match! Finally, with Alot Like an Egyptian, visitors explore how ancient Egyptians used to allot resources by using a set of physical fraction tiles that they place on a platform to try and hit a target fraction goal that they can modify using a sliding bracket.
