East India Marine Hall

Peabody Essex Museum

Salem, MA

Trivium collaborated closely with museum curators at the Peabody Essex Museum to develop content for the reinstallation of the East India Marine Hall. Working with the museum curators, Trivium helped reimagine the gallery’s content, highlighting objects from the museum’s founding collection, originally acquired by the East India Marine Society in the 19th century. The reinstallation presents these objects in a contemporary context, exploring local and global perspectives. These are accompanied by interpretation encouraging visitors to access stories about objects via a mobile app.

Trivium’s team worked with the museum to concept, script, and test content for 35 feature objects central to the collection. This content, which also included curated segments of interviews with cultural and historical experts, was then integrated into the Pladia mobile app to be accessed by museum visitors via QR codes throughout the gallery.

Trivium collaborated with Pladia on this project.
